Visiting Madinah, and the etiquette of the Prophet's ﷺ grave

The virtue of visiting Madinah, entering the Prophet's ﷺ mosque, and the words of greeting at his grave and those of Abu Bakr and Umar beside it.

After Hajj, it is a beautiful act of worship to travel to Madinah and visit the grave of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Arriving in Madinah

If you can, wash yourself (ghusl) before or after entering the city, and wear good clothes.
Enter the city with humility and respect, saying the entering-Madinah dua.
Enter the Prophet's ﷺ mosque, pray two rakats of greeting, and then go to stand respectfully before his grave.
Say the greeting of peace upon the Prophet ﷺ, exactly as you would greet someone alive, since he ﷺ hears the greeting.

Said on entering Madinah

بِسمِ اللهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَ أَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ اَللّٰهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِى أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ ارْزُقْنِي مِنْ زِيَارَةِ رَسُولِكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ سَلَّمَ مَا رَزَقْتَ أَوْلِيَائَكَ وَ أَهْلَ طَاعَتِكَ وَ اخْلِصۡنِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَ اغْفِرۡ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي يَا خَيْرَ مَسْئُول

Bismillāhi mā shā'a'llāhu wa lā quwwata illā billāh. Rabbi adkhilnī mudkhala ṣidqin wa akhrijnī mukhraja ṣidq. Allāhumma'ftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatika wa'rzuqnī min ziyārati rasūlika ṣalla'llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam mā razaqta awliyā'aka wa ahla ṭāʿatika, wa akhliṣnī mina'n-nāri wa'ghfir lī wa'rḥamnī yā khayra mas'ūl.

In the name of Allah, what Allah has willed has occurred, and strength lies only with Allah. O Lord! Enter me with an entrance of truth and bring me out with an exit of truth. O Allah! Open for me the doors of Your mercy, and grant me the visitation of Your Messenger ﷺ as You have granted to Your close ones and those who obey You. Protect me from the Fire, and forgive me and have mercy on me, O best of those who are asked.

Said in greeting at the Prophet's ﷺ grave

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā nabiyya'llāhi wa raḥmatu'llāhi wa barakātuh. Ashhadu annaka rasūlu'llāh.

Peace be upon you, O Prophet of Allah, and the mercy and blessings of Allah. I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.

Visiting the Prophet ﷺ is described as the most virtuous of acts, close to obligatory, and by some scholars' account obligatory outright. Several hadith are given in support of this virtue.

Entering Madinah and the mosque

Perform ghusl before or after entering, wear good clothing, apply fragrance, and enter with the utmost humility and respect, reciting the entering-Madinah dua.
Enter the mosque through Bab al-Jibril, or Bab al-Salam if that is not convenient, the former being preferable, reciting the entry dua.
Stand between the pulpit and the grave, aligning the pulpit's pillar with the right shoulder, facing the mihrab, and pray two rakats of Tahiyyat al-Masjid, reciting Surah al-Kafirun and Surah al-Ikhlas, this being the Rawdah, of which the hadith says: 'Between my house and my pulpit is a garden among the gardens of Paradise.'
Where space in the Rawdah itself cannot be found, pray anywhere within its wider bounds, then prostrate in gratitude and make dua.
Proceed to stand respectfully before the grille at the Prophet's ﷺ blessed head, facing the qiblah with the right hand placed over the left as in prayer, aware that the greeting is heard.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلٰٓى اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيۡ ذُنُوبِيۡ وَ افْتَحۡ لِيۡ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِيۡ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ أَوْجَهِ مَنْ تَوَجَّهَ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَقْرَبِ مَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَنْجَحِ مَنْ دَعَاكَ وَ ابْتَغِىۡ مَرْضَاتِكَ

Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā āli Muḥammad. Allāhumma'ghfir lī dhunūbī wa'ftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik. Allāhumma'jʿalnī'l-yawma min awjahi man tawajjaha ilayka wa aqrabi man taqarraba ilayka wa anjaḥi man daʿāka wa'btaghī marḍātak.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad. O Allah, forgive my sins and open for me the doors of Your mercy. O Allah, make me today better than those who have turned to You, and closer to You than those who have drawn near to You, and grant me greater success than those who have called upon You and sought Your pleasure.

The greeting at the Prophet's ﷺ grave

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ الرِّسَالَةَ وَ أَدَّيْتَ الْأَمَانَةَ وَ نَصَحْتَ الْأُمَّةَ وَ جَاهَدَتَ فِي أَمْرِ اللهِ حَتّٰى قُبِضَ رُوحُكَ حَمِيدًا مَّحْمُودًا فَجَزَاكَ اللهُ عَن صَغِيرِنَا وَ كَبِيرِنَا خَيْرَ الْجَزَآءِ وَ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ أَفْضَلَ الصَّلوةِ وَ أَزْكَاهَا وَ أَتْمَّ التَّحِيَّةِ وَ أَنَّمَاهَا اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلۡ نَبِيَّنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَقْرَبَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ اسْقِنَا مِنْ كَأْسِهٖ وَ ارْزُقْنَا مِنْ شَفَاعَتِهٖ وَ اجْعَلْنَا مِنْ رُفَقَائِهٖ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلۡ هَذَآ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ بِقَبْرِ نَبِيِّنَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَ ارْزُقْنَا الْعَوْدَ إِلَيْهِ يَا ذَالْجَلَالِِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā nabiyya'llāhi wa raḥmatu'llāhi wa barakātuh. Ashhadu annaka rasūlu'llāh, qad ballaghta'r-risālata wa addayta'l-amānata wa naṣaḥta'l-ummata wa jāhadta fī amri'llāhi ḥattā qubiḍa rūḥuka ḥamīdan maḥmūdā. Fa-jazāka'llāhu ʿan ṣaghīrinā wa kabīrinā khayra'l-jazā', wa ṣallā ʿalayka afḍala'ṣ-ṣalāti wa azkāhā wa atamma't-taḥiyyati wa anmāhā. Allāhumma'jʿal nabiyyanā yawma'l-qiyāmati aqraba'n-nabiyyīn, wa'sqinā min ka'sihī, wa'rzuqnā min shafāʿatihī, wa'jʿalnā min rufaqā'ihī yawma'l-qiyāmah. Allāhumma lā tajʿal hādhā ākhira'l-ʿahdi bi-qabri nabiyyinā ʿalayhi's-salām, wa'rzuqna'l-ʿawda ilayhi, yā dha'l-jalāli wa'l-ikrām.

O Prophet of Allah! May peace, Allah's mercy, and His blessings be upon you. I testify that surely, you are the Messenger of Allah. You conveyed the message of truth, fulfilled the trust, gave sincere advice to the Ummah, and strived in the cause of Allah until your soul was taken in a praiseworthy and commended state. May Allah reward you with the best reward on behalf of our small and large ones, and send upon you the best and purest blessings, and the fullest and most perfect salutation. O Allah! Make our Prophet the closest of all Prophets on the Day of Judgement, let us drink from his cup, grant us his intercession, and make us among his companions on the Day of Judgement. O Allah! Do not make this the last visit to our Prophet's grave, and grant us the blessing of returning to it, O Possessor of glory and honour!

Said adding one's own name, seeking intercession

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مِنْ فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانِ يَسْتَشْفِعُ بِكَ إِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَاشْفَعۡ لَهٗ وَ لِجَمِيعِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā rasūla'llāhi min fulānin ibni fulānin, yastashfiʿu bika ilā rabbika fa'shfaʿ lahū wa li-jamīʿi'l-muslimīn.

O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you from so-and-so, the son of so-and-so. He seeks your intercession with your Lord, so intercede for him and for all the Muslims.

Ziyārat al-Nabī ﷺ is described as among the most virtuous of acts of worship, close to wājib in the manual's own words, and outright wājib according to some. This rests on a cluster of narrations, some carrying named collectors, some given without one; each is reported here exactly as the source attributes it.

Note

Ibn ʿAdī narrates: 'Man ḥajja'l-bayta wa lam yazurnī faqad jafānī': 'Whoever performs Ḥajj and does not visit me has treated me unkindly.' Al-Dāraquṭnī narrates: 'Man zāranī wajabat lahū shafāʿatī': 'Whoever visits me, my intercession becomes obligatory for him.' An unattributed 'authentic narration' gives: 'Man ḥajja wa zāra qabrī baʿda mawtī kāna kaman zāranī fī ḥayātī': 'Whoever performs Ḥajj and visits my grave after my death is as one who visited me in my life.' Ibn al-Jawzī narrates: 'Ghubāru'l-Madīnati shifā'un mina'l-judhām': 'The dust of Madinah is a cure for leprosy' (a variant reading gives baraṣ, vitiligo); an unattributed narration adds 'ghubāruhā shifā'un min kulli dā'': 'its dust is a cure for every disease.' Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim records: 'Man ṣabara ʿala'l-Madīnati wa shiddatihā kuntu lahū shahīdan aw shafīʿan yawma'l-qiyāmah': 'Whoever endures Madinah's hardship, I will be a witness or intercessor for him on the Day of Judgment.' Anas (raḍiya'llāhu ʿanhu) narrates: 'Man ṣallā fī masjidī arbaʿīna ṣalātan lā tafūtuhū ṣalātun kutibat lahū barā'atun mina'n-nāri wa barā'atun mina'l-ʿadhābi wa barā'atun mina'n-nifāq': 'Whoever prays forty prayers in my mosque without missing one has written for him freedom from the Fire, from punishment, and from hypocrisy.'

Entering Madinah and Masjid al-Nabawī

Ghusl before or after entry, fine clothing, fragrance, and the utmost humility mark the approach, with the entering-Madinah duʿā recited.
Entry through Bāb al-Jibrīl is preferred over Bāb al-Salām, reciting the entry duʿā.
Standing between the minbar and the grave, aligning the minbar's pillar with the right shoulder and facing the miḥrāb, two rakʿahs of Taḥiyyat al-Masjid are prayed (Sūrat al-Kāfirūn and Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ), this being al-Rawḍah, the site of the ḥadīth 'Mā bayna baytī wa minbarī rawḍatun min riyāḍi'l-jannah,' a rectangle running in length from the blessed chamber to the minbar and in width from the mosque's old back wall or the Pillar of ʿAlī (or of the Delegations) to behind the minbar.
Where space within al-Rawḍah itself is unavailable, prayer anywhere within its wider bounds suffices, followed by sajdat al-shukr and duʿā, seeking the Prophet's ﷺ intercession.
The pilgrim then stands at the grille by the Prophet's ﷺ blessed head. Al-Masālik fi'l-Manāsik directs that, per the Ḥanafī position, one stands facing the qiblah without turning the back to the blessed head; present-day practice, by contrast, has visitors face the qiblah with backs to it, proceeding afterward east to the graves of the two Shaykhs (Abū Bakr and ʿUmar) and then north to the martyrs of Uḥud. The right hand is placed over the left as in prayer, in awareness that the greeting is heard.

Adding one's own name, seeking intercession

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā rasūla'llāhi min fulānin ibni fulānin, yastashfiʿu bika ilā rabbika fa'shfaʿ lahū wa li-jamīʿi'l-muslimīn.

O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you from so-and-so, the son of so-and-so. He seeks your intercession with your Lord, so intercede for him and for all the Muslims.

Greeting Abū Bakr and ʿUmar

A step to the right, standing before Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq's blessed face, the greeting below is given.
A further step, standing before ʿUmar al-Fārūq, the second greeting below is given.
A further step, standing between the two, the third greeting below is given, followed by duʿā for parents and any who requested one.
Returning to the position between the minbar and the grave, the closing salutations and duʿā of the manual's fourth greeting are recited.

The greeting to Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَلِيفَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فِي الْغَارِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَفِيقَهٗ فِي الْأَسْفَارِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِينَهٗ فِي الْأَسْرَارِ جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ عَنَّا أَفْضَلَ مَا جَزٰی إِمَامًا عَنْ أُمَّةِ نَبِيِّهٖ وَ لَقَدْ خَلَقْتَهٗ بِأَصْدَقِ خَلَفٍ وَ سَلَكْتَ طَرِيقَهٗ وَ مِنْهَاجَهٗ خَيْرَ مَسْلَكٍ وَ قَاتَلْتَ أَهْلَ الرِّدَةِ وَ الْبِدَعِ وَ مَهَّدۡتَ الۡإِسْلَامَ وَ وَصَلْتَ الْأَرْحَامَ وَ لَمْ تَزَلۡ قَائِلًا لِلْحَقِّ نَاصِرًا لِأَهْلِهٖ حَتّٰى أَتَاكَ الْيَقِينُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ رَحْمَتُهٗ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ اَللّٰهُمَّ اَمِتۡنَا عَلٰى حُبِّهٖ وَلَا تَخَبۡ سَعْيَنَا فِي زِيارَتِهٖ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā khalīfata rasūli'llāh. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā ṣāḥiba rasūli'llāhi fi'l-ghār. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā rafīqahū fi'l-asfār. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā amīnahū fi'l-asrār. Jazāka'llāhu ʿannā afḍala mā jazā imāman ʿan ummati nabiyyih, wa laqad khalaftahū bi-aṣdaqi khalaf, wa salakta ṭarīqahū wa minhājahū khayra maslak, wa qātalta ahla'r-riddati wa'l-bidaʿ, wa mahhadta'l-Islāma wa waṣalta'l-arḥām, wa lam tazal qā'ilan li'l-ḥaqqi nāṣiran li-ahlihī ḥattā atāka'l-yaqīn. Wa's-salāmu ʿalayka wa raḥmatuhū wa barakātuh. Allāhumma amitnā ʿalā ḥubbihī wa lā tukhayyib saʿyanā fī ziyāratihī bi-raḥmatika yā arḥama'r-rāḥimīn.

O Successor of the Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you. O Companion of the Messenger of Allah in the cave! Peace be upon you, O his travel companion! Peace be upon you, O Keeper of his secrets! May Allah reward you on our behalf with the best reward He has given to any leader for the Ummah of His Messenger. Surely, you followed his guidance faithfully, walking on his path and method. You fought against the apostates and innovators. You beautified Islam. You maintained family ties, and you consistently supported the truth and its people until death came to you. Peace be upon you, with the mercy and blessings of Allah. O Allah! Let us die in love for him, and do not let our efforts in visiting him be in vain by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

The greeting to ʿUmar al-Fārūq

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عُمَرُ الْفَارُوقَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ كَمَّلَ اللَّهُ بِه الْأَرْبَعِينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنِ اسْتَجَابَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ دَعْوَةَ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ أَظْهَرَ اللهُ بِهِ الدِّينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ أَعَزَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ الدِّينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ نَطَقَ بِالصَّوَابِ وَ وَافَقَ قَوْلُهٗ مُحْكَمَ الْكِتَابِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ عَاشَ حَمِيدًا وَ خَرَجَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا شَهِيدًا جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ عَنْ نَبِيِّهٖ وَ أُمَّتِهٖ خَيْرَ السَّلَامِ سَلَامُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ عَلَيْک

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā amīra'l-mu'minīna ʿUmara'l-Fārūq. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā man kammala'llāhu bihi'l-arbaʿīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā mani'stajāba'llāhu fīhi daʿwata khātami'n-nabiyyīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā man aẓhara'llāhu bihi'd-dīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā man aʿazza'llāhu bihi'd-dīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā man naṭaqa bi'ṣ-ṣawābi wa wāfaqa qawluhū muḥkama'l-kitāb. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā man ʿāsha ḥamīdan wa kharaja mina'd-dunyā shahīdā. Jazāka'llāhu ʿan nabiyyihī wa ummatihī khayra's-salām, salāmu'llāhi wa barakātuhū ʿalayk.

O Commander of the Believers, Umar Farooq! Peace be upon you. O he whom Allah perfected with forty men, peace be upon you. O he in whose regard Allah answered the supplication of the Seal of the Prophets, peace be upon you. O he through whom Allah made the religion victorious, peace be upon you. O he through whom Allah honored the religion, peace be upon you. O he who spoke the truth and whose words were in accordance with the clear Qur'an, peace be upon you. O he who lived honored and left this world as a martyr, peace be upon you. May Allah reward you with the best peace on behalf of His Prophet and his Ummah. May Allah's peace and blessings be upon you.

The greeting to both companions together

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمَا يَا ضَجِيعَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَفِيقَيْهٖ وَ وَزِيرَيْهٖ وَ مُشِيْرَيْهٖ وَ الْمُعَاوِنَيْنِ لَهٗ عَلَى الْقِيَامِ فِى الدِّينِ وَالْقَائِمَيْنِ بَعْدَهٗ بِمَصَالِحِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ جَزَاكُمَا اللَّهُ أَحْسَنَ الْجَرَاءِ جِئْنَاكُمَا نَتَوَسَّلُ بِكُمَا إِلٰى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ لِيَشْفَعَ لَنَا وَ يَسْأَلَ رَبَّنَا أَنْ يَتَقَبَّلَ سَعْيَنَا وَ يُحْيِيَنَا عَلَى مِلَّتِهِ وَيُمِيِّتَنَا عَلَيْهَا وَ يَحْشُرَنَا فِي زُمْرَتِہٖ

As-salāmu ʿalaykumā yā ḍajīʿay rasūli'llāhi ṣalla'llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam, wa rafīqayhi wa wazīrayhi wa mushīrayhi wa'l-muʿāwinayni lahū ʿala'l-qiyāmi fi'd-dīni wa'l-qā'imayni baʿdahū bi-maṣāliḥi'l-muslimīn. Jazākuma'llāhu aḥsana'l-jazā'. Ji'nākumā natawassalu bikumā ilā rasūli'llāhi li-yashfaʿa lanā wa yas'ala rabbanā an yataqabbala saʿyanā wa yuḥyiyanā ʿalā millatihī wa yumītanā ʿalayhā wa yaḥshuranā fī zumratih.

Peace be upon you, O companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his confidants, his ministers, his advisors, his helpers in the establishment of the religion, and those who stood after him for the welfare of the Muslims. May Allah reward you with the best reward. We have come to you to intercede on our behalf with the Messenger of Allah, so that he may seek intercession for us and ask our Lord to accept our efforts, keep us alive upon His faith, cause us to die in it, and resurrect us among his followers on the Day of Judgment.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَفِيعَ الْمُذْنِبِينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا إِمَامَ الْمُتَّقِينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مِنَّةَ اللهِ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا طٰهٰ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يايٰسٓ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰى أَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ وَ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ الطَّيِّبِينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰى أَزْوَاجِكَ الطَّاهِرَاتِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ . اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰى أَصْحَابِكَ أَجْمَعِينَ وَ عَلَى التَّابِعِينَ إِلٰى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ . اَللّٰهُمَّ أَعْطِهٖ نِهَايَةَ مَا يَنبَغِي أَن يَسْأَلَهُ السَّائِلُونَ وَ غَايَةَ مَا يَنبَغِي أَنْ يَأْمُلَهُ الْأٰمِلُونَ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ وَ أَنْتَ أَصْدَقُ الْقَائِلِينَ : وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذْ ظَّلَمُوٓا أَنْفُسَهُمْ جَآءُ وكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا اللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا ۔ يَا حَبِيبَ اللَّهِ يَا شَفِيْعَ اللَّهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ اَتَيْنَاكَ ظَالِمِينَ لِأَنْفُسِنَا مُسْتَغْفِرِينَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِنَا فَاسْتَغْفِرۡ أَنْتَ وَ اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَجِدُ اللَّهَ تَوَّاباً رَّحِيماً . وَاَسْأَلُهٗ أَنْ يَمُنَّ عَلَيْنَا بِسَائِرِ مَطْلُوبَاتِنَا وَ يَحْشُرَنَا فِي زُمْرَةِ عِبَادِهِ الصَّالِحِينَ . اَللّٰهُمَّ أَشْهِدُكَ وَ اُشْهِدُ رَ سُولَكَ وَ اَبَا بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ صَاحِبَی رَسُولِكَ وَ اُشْهِدُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ النَّازِلِينَ عَلٰى هَذِهِ الرُّوضَةِ الْكَرِيمَةِ الْعَاكِفِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْقَائِمِينَ عَلٰى هَذِهِ الْبُقْعَةِ الْعَظِيمَةِ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُولُكَ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مَا جَآءَ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ إِلٰى رَسُولِكَ مِنْ اَمْرٍ وَ نَهْي فَهُوَ حَقٌّ لَا كِذَّبَ فِيهِ وَإِنِّي مُقِرٌّ لَّكَ بِجِنَايَتِي وَ مُعْتَرِفٌ بِخَطِيئَتِي وَ مَعْصِيَتِي مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ وَالصَّغَائِرِ فَاغْفِرْ لِي جَمِيعَهَا وَ لِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَامْنُنۡ عَلَيَّ بِالَّذِي مَنَنْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰٓى أَوْلِيَائِكَ بِتَوْفِيقِ الطَّاعَةِ فَإِنَّكَ الْمَنَّانُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ بَاَهْلِ الۡإِيْمَانِ رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الۡاٰخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ وَ سَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā khātama'n-nabiyyīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā shafīʿa'l-mudhnibīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā imāma'l-muttaqīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā rasūla rabbi'l-ʿālamīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā minnata'llāhi ʿala'l-mu'minīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā Ṭāhā. As-salāmu ʿalayka yā Yāsīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka wa ʿalā ahli baytika wa dhurriyyatika'ṭ-ṭayyibīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka wa ʿalā azwājika'ṭ-ṭāhirāti ummahāti'l-mu'minīn. As-salāmu ʿalayka wa ʿalā aṣḥābika ajmaʿīn wa ʿala't-tābiʿīna ilā yawmi'd-dīn. Allāhumma aʿṭihī nihāyata mā yanbaghī an yas'alahu's-sā'ilūn, wa ghāyata mā yanbaghī an ya'mulahu'l-āmilūn. Allāhumma innaka qulta wa anta aṣdaqu'l-qā'ilīn: wa law annahum idh ẓalamū anfusahum jā'ūka fa'staghfaru'llāha wa'staghfara lahumu'r-rasūlu la-wajadu'llāha tawwāban raḥīmā. Yā ḥabība'llāhi yā shafīʿa'llāhi yā nabiyya'llāhi yā rasūla'llāhi, qad ataynāka ẓālimīna li-anfusinā mustaghfirīna min dhunūbinā, fa'staghfir anta wa'shfaʿ lanā ilā rabbika fa-tajidu'llāha tawwāban raḥīmā. Wa as'aluhū an yamunna ʿalaynā bi-sā'iri maṭlūbātinā wa yaḥshuranā fī zumrati ʿibādihi'ṣ-ṣāliḥīn. Allāhumma ashhiduka wa ushhidu rasūlaka wa Abā Bakrin wa ʿUmara ṣāḥibay rasūlika wa ushhidu'l-malā'ikata'n-nāzilīna ʿalā hādhihi'r-rawḍati'l-karīmati'l-ʿākifīna ʿalayhā wa'l-qā'imīna ʿalā hādhihi'l-buqʿati'l-ʿaẓīmati bi-annī ashhadu an lā ilāha illā anta waḥdaka lā sharīka laka wa anna Muḥammadan ʿabduka wa rasūluka wa ashhadu anna mā jā'a min ʿindika ilā rasūlika min amrin wa nahyin fa-huwa ḥaqqun lā kadhiba fīhi, wa innī muqirrun laka bi-jināyatī wa muʿtarifun bi-khaṭī'atī wa maʿṣiyatī mina'l-kabā'iri wa'ṣ-ṣaghā'ir, fa'ghfir lī jamīʿahā wa li-wālidayya wa li'l-mu'minīn, wa'mnun ʿalayya bi'lladhī mananta bihī ʿalā awliyā'ika bi-tawfīqi'ṭ-ṭāʿah, fa-innaka'l-mannānu dhu'l-faḍli wa'l-iḥsāni'l-ghafūru'r-raḥīmu bi-ahli'l-īmān. Rabbanā ātinā fi'd-dunyā ḥasanatan wa fi'l-ākhirati ḥasanatan wa qinā ʿadhāba'n-nār. Subḥāna rabbika rabbi'l-ʿizzati ʿammā yaṣifūn, wa salāmun ʿala'l-mursalīn, wa'l-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi'l-ʿālamīn.

O Seal of the Prophets, peace be upon you. O Intercessor for the sinners, peace be upon you. O Imam of the pious, peace be upon you. O Messenger of the Lord of the worlds, peace be upon you. O Grace of Allah upon the believers, peace be upon you. O Ta-Ha, peace be upon you. O Ya-Sin, peace be upon you. Peace be upon you and your purified family and descendants. Peace be upon you and your pure wives, the mothers of the believers. Peace be upon you and your companions, all of them, and upon the followers until the Day of Judgment. O Allah, grant him the ultimate reward that should be asked by those who seek. O Allah, You said, and You are the truest of speakers: 'Had they, when they wronged themselves, come to you and sought forgiveness from Allah, and the Messenger had sought forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah, the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.' O Beloved of Allah, O Intercessor of Allah, O Prophet of Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we come to You, wrongdoers of ourselves, seeking forgiveness for our sins. So seek forgiveness for us and intercede for us with Your Lord, that we may find Allah to be Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. And we ask Him to bestow upon us all our desires and to gather us in the group of His righteous servants. O Allah, I bear witness to You, and I bear witness to Your Messenger, to Abu Bakr, to Umar, the companions of Your Messenger, and I bear witness to the angels descending upon this blessed and noble garden, those who have devoted themselves to it, and those who are standing upon this sacred spot, that I testify that there is no deity but You, the One, with no partners, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Your Messenger. And I bear witness that whatever has come from You to Your Messenger, whether in command or prohibition, is true, with no falsification. And I confess my guilt, acknowledging my faults and disobedience, whether great or minor. Forgive me all of them, and my parents, and the believers. Bestow upon me, as You have bestowed on Your righteous followers, the success to obey You, for You are the Beneficent, the Gracious, the Forgiving, and the Merciful. O Lord, grant us good in this world and in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Glorified is Your Lord, the Lord of Honour, above what they describe. Peace be upon the messengers, and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
